The Milk Barrel is an independent artisan gelato producer, born out of a love for that glorious creamy, enticing and decadent treat that is gelato!
In January 2017, after travelling to Bologna to study at the world-renowned Carpigiani Gelato University, The Milk Barrel opened its doors at the Hillarys Boat Harbour. The Milk Barrel is committed to sourcing the freshest and highest quality ingredients possible, using whole milk and cream from West Australian dairies, pistachios from Sicily, black sesame from Japan etc. Every pan of gelato is lovingly handcrafted from scratch without any artificial colours or flavourings in our open kitchen, and customers are welcome to view the gelato making process.
Nearly three years on, the Milk Barrel has been recognised for the quality and unique flavours of our gelato, having won multiple awards, including Campion Gelato and Best Overall Small Dairy Producer at the Perth Royal Food Awards. We continue to experiment with new creations (think Lychee Rose, Coconut Kaffir, Bellini Sorbet, just to name a few) and aim to always put a smile on people’s faces with our gelato!
We will be selling our gelato and sorbet from our stand, and visitors are welcome to sample the various flavours we have on offer, or even have a chat if they would like to know more about gelato and the process of making it.
