George Cooper is an experienced young chef making a name for himself in the Margaret River Region.
He came to WA in 2012 by happy accident, en-route home to the UK after a working holiday with his wife Kayleigh. The couple fell in love with Dunsborough and the Margaret River region, it’s natural beauty and produce, and immediately decided to call it home.
Initially working in high profile Margaret River winery kitchens, George and Kayleigh then created their own successful businesses in high-end private dining experiences and wedding catering.
Fast forward to 2019 and more big plans are afoot. The couple are now proud owners of a 21-hectare farm in Yallingup Siding and are working towards the creation of a bespoke food tourism experience. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy home-grown produce, a dining experience, and the opportunity to become part of George and Kayleigh’s life on the farm for a few hours.
In his cooking, George matches classic ingredients with modern culinary techniques to create delicious and memorable food. He enjoys pushing boundaries and making local produce the hero. George’s background in English Michelin plays a big part in his drive, dedication and passion.
George has been a guest chef at every Margaret River Gourmet Escape, Taste of Perth, Truffle Kerfuffle and the Gascoyne Food Festival. He has worked in kitchens across England and Australia and in many of Margaret River’s best winery restaurants.
